Plans, limits and billing

What each plan includes, how monthly allowances work, paying monthly or yearly, free trials, promotion codes, and how to change or cancel a plan.

Plans belong to your organisation: every workspace in it shares the same plan and allowances. Usage and plan in the app shows your current plan, what's left this month and what's included.

Monthly allowances

Plans limit how many new links and QR codes you can create each calendar month. Clicks are never limited.

  • Resets on the first day of each month (UTC).
  • Edits are free. Changing a link's destination, title, tags or schedule never uses the allowance.
  • Deleting doesn't refund. A deleted link still counts for the month it was created.
  • Retries don't count twice. If the app or an API request is retried after a network drop, you aren't charged again.
  • When it runs out, existing links and QR codes keep working; you just can't make new ones until the reset or an upgrade.
  • Moving links from another service can use a separate migration allowance. See Move from another short-link service.

The app's sidebar shows how many new links you've used this month. Usage and plan shows both allowances and the reset date.

Change plan

Only the organisation's owner can change the plan.

  1. Open Usage and plan.
  2. Under Choose a plan, choose Monthly or Yearly, then the plan.
  3. You go to Stripe's secure payment page. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us.
  4. When you come back, the new plan applies straight away, in every workspace of the organisation.

Already paying? Choose Manage billing to change plan, update your card, download invoices or cancel, on Stripe's page.

If Usage and plan says online payment isn't set up, contact us to change plan.

Monthly or yearly

Plans sold both ways show a Monthly and Yearly choice above them. Yearly shows how much it saves against twelve monthly payments.

  • Switching later: under your plan in Usage and plan, choose Switch to yearly billing (or Switch to monthly billing). It takes effect straight away.
  • Monthly to yearly: Stripe charges the yearly price now, less the unused part of the current month.
  • Yearly to monthly: the unused part of the year is credited and comes off your next invoices.

Free trials

A plan may include a free trial, shown on the plan (for example "14-day free trial") with a Start free trial button.

  • One per organisation. Each organisation gets one free trial, and none once it has paid online.
  • Days left show in Usage and plan while it runs, and the owner is emailed three days before it ends.
  • With a card: if the trial asked for card details, the card is charged when it ends. Cancel in Manage billing before then if you don't want to keep the plan.
  • Without a card: if it said "no card needed", add your payment details in Manage billing before it ends to keep the plan. Otherwise the organisation moves to the Free plan and the owner is emailed. Links keep working either way.

Promotion codes

  1. Open the promotion link you were given while signed in as the organisation's owner. It goes to Usage and plan.
  2. The page shows what the code takes off, for example "25% off for 3 months", and which plans it's for.
  3. Choose a plan: the code is applied on Stripe's payment page, which shows the discounted amount before you pay.

A code can be limited to some plans, to new customers, to a number of uses or to a date. If it can't be used, the page says why, and you can still choose a plan without it. Some services also let you type a code on Stripe's payment page. Your discount, and when it ends, is shown under your plan.

If a payment fails

  1. Stripe tries the payment again, and the owner gets an email.
  2. Paid features keep working during a grace period, usually 7 days. Usage and plan shows the date it ends.
  3. After that, new links and QR codes pause until the payment goes through. Existing links keep redirecting the whole time.
  4. To fix it, the owner chooses Manage billing and updates the payment details.

Cancelling

  • Cancel in Manage billing. You keep the paid plan until the end of the period you've paid for; Usage and plan shows the end date.
  • The organisation then moves to the Free plan. Your links, QR codes and analytics stay, and links keep working.
  • Features the Free plan doesn't include stop: for example, you can't add new custom back-halves or use the API. History older than the Free plan's analytics history is no longer shown.
