Reporting a harmful link

Report a short link that leads to phishing, malware, scams or other harmful content.

Short links can hide where they go, so we take harmful links seriously. Anyone can report one, with or without an account.

Report a link

  1. Open Report a link. It's also in the footer of every page.
  2. Paste the Short link, such as bgum.me/abc1234.
  3. Under What's wrong with it?, choose the closest reason: phishing or stealing passwords, malware or harmful downloads, spam, scam or fraud, illegal content, or something else.
  4. Add Details if they'll help, such as where you saw the link. Add Your email if you're happy for us to contact you. Both are optional.
  5. Choose Send report. You'll see Thanks for the report.

Not sure if it's safe?

Don't open a link you're suspicious of. You can report it without visiting it. If you've already entered a password on a page it led to, change that password straight away.

What happens next

  • Our team reviews every report.
  • If the link breaks our rules, we disable it. It stops working everywhere straight away and shows "This link has been disabled" instead.
  • If it doesn't, we close the report with no change.

If your link was disabled

A link can be disabled after a report, or automatically when a safety check finds its destination listed as phishing or malware.

  • The person who created the link is emailed when it's disabled, with the reason.
  • A disabled link can't be edited, and visitors see that it was disabled.
  • If you think it's a mistake, contact us with the short link and what it's for. If we agree, we'll re-enable it.
